It all started with Duke, our beloved boxer. When I'm in the studio working writing, arranging and producing he is my companion - that is, as long as I am playing soothing piano music.

 

The minute I start in with some jazz or some music with a little bang, he's up and out of the room. It led me to investigate music and it's effect on dogs and puppies.

 

I wasn't too surprised to learn that soothing music with a slow tempo has a calming effect on dogs. A little more digging and I found that researchers found that this type of music calms an anxious animal and reduces the destructive behavior and never-ending barking of dogs who are left home alone.
